And again....

Rained most of the day.....evening walk but only to the top of the lane: its the longest day today but it seemed so dark at well before eight. Lots of evidence of bird activity in and around the edge of the village: despite stopping at the top gate still managed seventeen species. Five mallard drakes on the pond and one duck on the side. The Canada goose and his five farmyard companions were still there but no sign of the moorhens or the heron.
at 20.37 just had a late surprise with the first observed visit to the garden today of our two goldfinches who turned up with a dunnock, to make the most of the sun flower hearts in the globe feeder.The light by now is appallingly bad for observing anything but they were still just about visble in the gloom.
